Delving into the Patterns of Nature: A Curious Journey with Leaves
At Sai Angel Foundation, our mission extends beyond traditional learning; we strive to ignite curiosity and foster deeper understanding through direct interaction with nature. Led by the knowledgeable mentor Mihir Pathak, our latest session took a group of eager participants on a journey to explore the diverse and intricate world of leaves and their patterns.
The Art of Observation and Inquiry
Today’s exploration was not just about recognizing the different types of leaves but also mastering the ‘Curiosity Map’. This tool encourages learners to practice asking deeper, more insightful questions about their observations. Mihir emphasized the significance of this skill, noting that the ability to ask the right questions enhances learning and is invaluable in various life situations.
Meeting Our Tree Friends
The highlight of our session was the introduction to our three tree friends, each with its unique story and ecological importance:
- ગરમાળો / अमलतास (Cassia fistula): Known commonly as the Golden Shower Tree, this tree dazzles with its vivid yellow blossoms, which herald the arrival of spring.
- ગુલમહોર / गुलमहोर (Delonix regia): The Flamboyant Tree, better known as Gulmohar, is celebrated for its fiery red flowers that seem to set the canopy ablaze during the bloom season.
- તામ્રસીંગી / Copper Pod Tree (Peltophorum pterocarpum): This tree is admired not only for its striking yellow flowers but also for its copper-colored pods that add a unique aesthetic to the landscape.
Why This Matters
This session is part of our commitment to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those focusing on quality education and life on land. By fostering an appreciation for biodiversity and the environment, we prepare our participants to be thoughtful stewards of the planet.
At SAF, every leaf tells a story, and every tree is a friend. Join us to discover more about the natural world in ways that enlighten, inspire, and connect.
