SmartCamp

The Smartcamp Project, a partnership between Sai’s Angel Foundation (SAF) and Transpek Industry Ltd, focuses on enhancing education in Mathematics, Gujarati, English, Value Education, and General Knowledge for 6th to 8th graders. The initiative targets students from Maa Bharti Primary School, Lalji Maharaj Primary School (Phase-1), and Maa Bharti Primary School, Dr. Hedgewar Primary School (Phase-2) in Vadodara.

Key Objectives

The project aims to significantly raise academic performance across the board. Specifically, it seeks to ensure that 75% of students master fundamental math concepts and that 80% of students achieve Gujarati literacy. Additionally, the project aspires for 50-75% of students to attain basic English reading and writing skills. Beyond academics, the initiative also focuses on improving attendance, increasing value awareness, and promoting personal hygiene. Values and general knowledge are taught through engaging stories and discussions.

Intervention Strategies

To achieve these objectives, the project implements several intervention strategies. This includes comprehensive teacher training programs and daily teaching sessions, with Phase-1 sessions lasting two hours and Phase-2 sessions one hour. The curriculum is enriched with general knowledge and storytelling activities. Progress is monitored through regular assessments, and a reward system is in place to encourage student progress and attendance.

Progress Highlights

The project has already seen significant progress. Over 75% of students have improved their fundamental math skills, while over 60% of students have achieved the targeted goals in English proficiency. There has been notable success in achieving Gujarati literacy, particularly among the Blue-1 and Blue-2 groups. Students from Dr. Hedgewar Primary School have shown marked improvement in both math and English. The effective use of innovative teaching methods and learning materials has been a key factor in these achievements.

Teaching Methods

The teaching methods employed are designed to be engaging and effective. Play-way methods and Teaching Learning Materials (TLMs) are used to create a dynamic learning environment. The “Each One Teach One” approach is also implemented to reinforce peer learning and build student confidence.
